Depression

We all feel sad or low in mood sometimes but these feelings are usually fleeting and pass within a couple of days. When a person has a depressive disorder, it interferes with daily life and their ability to function normally. When people are depressed, they may feel worthless, hopeless and constantly tired. In cases of milder depression, people can probably carry on but will find everyday tasks difficult. With severe depression, people can find their feelings so unbearable that they start thinking about suicide. If you are feeling suicidal or in a crisis of depression, contact your GP as soon as possible. The good news is that with the right treatment and support, most depressed people make a full recovery. It’s important to seek help from your GP if you think you may be depressed.
