Action for Advocacy

Action for Advocacy (A4A) offers a wide range of services for the advocacy sector. This includes organisational development, our quarterly magazine - Planet Advocacy, monthly email bulletin, training and events, influencing policy and staff to answer queries relating to advocacy. Search our online database to find an advocacy service in England and Wales. 'This database contains all the schemes we are aware of. Unfortunately there are simply more people wanting an advocate than there are advocacy schemes. Whilst we are committed to campaigning for more advocacy provision, we do not provide advocacy ourselves and are unable to get involved with individual cases. If you do not find a scheme in your area please call the Advocacy finder helpline on 08451 22 86 33. Please note this service is not provided by Action for Advocacy. For all other enquiries contact us.'

Advocacy

Advocacy in this context means someone speaking up for, or acting on behalf of, themselves or another person.Advocacy can help someone to make clear to others what they think, feel and want in a clear way. Some people aren’t clear about of their rights as citizens, or have difficulty in fully understanding these rights, or may find it hard to speak up for themselves. Advocacy can enable people to take more control over the decisions which affect their lives.
